Enthusiast 2.5" HDDs: Speed or Capacity?
Home : News : News Story

Toms Hardware investigates.

Imagine you're in the process of buying a new laptop. Do you go for the hard drive with the big 250GB storage at 5,400 RPM, or the smaller 160GB running at 7,200 RPM? Which one is faster? Many people would think the drive with the faster rotational speed would be the faster of the two, but consider this. The denser the hard drive platters, the faster the drive can read data as it has less distance to travel. So which one would be best, performance wise?

Toms Hardware takes an in-depth look at that exact question in their latest article. Be sure to check it out if you're in the market for a new system, or are just upgrading to a newer hard drive.
