Just as the first Blu-ray camcorders hit the market, Imation's new 8cm recordable is unveiled.

Just as the first Blu-ray camcorders hit the market, Imation's new 8cm recordable is unveiled. Two products based on the 8cm sizing will be released - BD-R (recordable) and BD-RE (re-recordable).

The blanks will be sold as TDK-branded discs, and will offer 7.5GB of storage capacity, which is large enough for 60 minutes of 1080i video. 1080p on the other hand, will only record about 30 minutes of video.

BD-R discs will initially cost $25, while BD-RE discs will cost $35, and both should be available in September or October of 2007.
