SanDisk's comparison table for their new solid state drives reveals what could be the future of hard drives.


As noted in the table above, solid state drives are superior in terms of access time by a large margin, while the MTBF (mean time before failure) is also six times greater than that of traditional hard drives with all their moving parts. They're also completely silent, and are more durable in terms of shock resistance, vibration resistance and general wear and tear.
