Home : News : News Story

The second generation Razr will correct many of the pitfalls associated with the previous iteration, and is even thinner.

Anyone who has owned a Motorola Razr knows how slow and sluggish they are. Well, things are finally looking up for fans of the Razr, as Motorola release details of the soon to be launched Razr 2 phone.

Features:

  • 2mm thinner
  • Built using steel, plastic, magnesium, aluminium and hardened glass
  • 500MHz ARM11 processor (ten times as fast as the original Razr CPU)
  • 2.2" 320x240 display
  • 2MP camera
  • 512MB or 2GB of integrated memory
  • Micro USB port which supports USB 2.0
  • Vibrating feedback in response to finger taps
  • 176x144 video playback at 15fps

The Razr 2 will use a newly redesigned interface which according to Morola allows users to find contacts quicker than before.

Prices in the U.S. range from $250 on a two year plan with Sprint to $470 outright. The phone will be named "V9" for 3G HSDPA networks, "V9m" for 3G EVDO CDMA networks, and "V8" for GSM networks.

With their troubled financial situation, Motorola needs a successful product now more than ever. Whether the Razr can compete with existing phones such as the GPS-enabled Nokia 6110, and the iPhone remains to be seen.
