EA's analysis on the console wars show that the PS3 will take over this year.
Electronic Arts, the gaming publisher of overused franchises and Skate whom we all know and love, just announced that they think the Xbox 360 is going to lose it's lead over the PlayStation 3 just this year.
In their analysis, they describe how they think that the PS3 will sell more consoles in Europe (don't even bother with Japan, its not worth it for the 360). The lead will come from this, since the US market is pretty much saturated by 360's, so not many more people will buy them. The PS3, however, is hot stuff it seems, even though it's got a handful of exclusive titles.
With their expected growth in Europe, EA thinks that Sony's console will get equal market share within the year, surprisingly, but not in the US. Here are the numbers of console sales they've given:
Nintendo Wii: 12-14 million PlayStation 3: 9.5-11.5 million Xbox 360: 6-8 million PlayStation 2: 3.9-4.9 million
The PS2 finally looks to be dwindiling down, thankfully, giving the PS3 a chance. But will it actually do that well? Guess we'll have to wait and see.
