AU Optronics announces first Desktop monitor to be produced in 16:9 widescreen

It's weird to think that nobody's actually made a widescreen monitor in 16:9 yet, especially considering how every HDTV being made now is in exactly that format, regardless of resolution.

Then again, it's been the standard practice to have monitors at 16:10 ever since widescreen monitors have been in mass production over their 4:3 brethren. Not a bad thing, per se, but those who appreciate vertical resolution like myself can't see this as good news.

It's hard to imagine such a drastic change catching on so quickly, especially since most people don't go out and buy 24" computer monitors and would rather watch TV and movies on, well, their TV's.
