The new driver package offers improved performance for Radeon graphics cards as well as additional features for Vista.

AMD announced today that their latest collection of Catalyst drivers (version 7.4) are now available to download free of charge for Windows XP and Windows Vista users.

The purpose of the new drivers is to improve OpenGL performance for all systems using a Radeon X1000 series product, be it a single card of part of a CrossFire configuration.

AMD are suggesting “typical improvements of 15% or more” in games such as Doom 3, Prey and Quake 4, with “enthusiast class of products seeing improvements of 30% or more”!

You can download the XP drivers at AMD’s official website here, or if you want to know more about the specifics you can read the release notes here, with installation instructions to be found here.
