This CPU cooler will help you get a lot more performance from your processor... but it has some flaws.

Overclocking enthusiasts have a simple equation that defines the very limits of their hobby: heat equals death. As with all machinery, the heat generated by overclocked processors, pushed slightly into their engineering margins, can at its very least disrupt operation.

However, there is a solution available: additional cooling. Pushing your computer to the next level and keeping it there requires going beyond the stock fan and heatsink that came with your processor and investing in one of a number of customized cooling options: high speed air cooling, water cooling, little hamster on a wheel operating a palm fan – you name it, it’s probably out there as an option. Of the choices, water-cooling (aka Peltier cooling ) may be the best option for two reasons: first, you can eliminate a fan from your setup, reducing the amount of noise you have to hear on a daily basis and second, when it comes to cooling, running chilled water around a machine is going to be more effective than blowing air at it – that’s got to be why everything from machine guns to aircraft engines to nuclear reactors use water cooling systems.

To test this hypothesis, and to take a look at one option to give you some hard evidence when making a buying choice, today I’ll be examining the Eliminator CPU Cooler from CoolIt Systems. Is this water-based cooler a good option for your money? I’ll be doing the tests to find out.
