A powerful, reliable power supply for power hungry computers.

Well, once again we are here to review another power supply from Ultra Products.  Under review today is the X-Finity 800 watt PSU with Active PFC.  While Ultra Products is not as well known as other, more established PSU companies they usually make reliable products. 

One of the most overlooked area's while building a computer, or buying one from a company dedicated to doing so, is the power supply.  Most budget computers come with a no-name, generic power supply that is more prone to dying within a short span of time.  Usually one must spend quite a penny in purchasing one that is reliable and efficient.  The X-Finity 800w is certainly expensive, but is it reliable and efficient?  That is what we will be looking at.

The X-Finity is certainly a nice looking piece of work.  I could not personally take a photo of the PSU due to a missing camera, but the picture above is exactly what it looks like.  The cables are a nice, flexible and shiny silver.  Unfortunately, this PSU is not modular like many of the most popular models but it does provide plenty of cables and flexibility to move and place them as inobtrusively as possible.  The dual 80mm fans inside of the unit are not exactly quiet, but they are no louder than other models in the same price and power range.

Installation of the unit was a breeze, the supplied screws and power cord made things even easier.  The only thing that took a few moments longer than usual was the amount of cables and just how similar they all looked due to the coloring.  Made for a confusing few moments until I was able to sort them apart.  Not to mention it is SLI ready, so for those of us who have two video cards this PSU would suit you just fine.
