OPPO DV-970 DVD Player
Home : Hardware : Reviews : OPPO DV-970 DVD Player

The player performed on par with some of the more expensive up-converting players on the market from well known manufacturers, and we were very impressed by the user-friendly interface. OPPO have obviously spent a good deal of time working on their firmware, and owners of their players will thank them for it. Menus were easy to navigate, options were easy to configure and the player read any disc we threw at it.

DivX and XviD playback was flawless, and the 970 also reads from MemoryStick/SD/MMC memory cards, and has a USB port for connecting USB memory devices. You can play videos/music, and view photos direct from a USB card. Very nice indeed.

We have no hesistation in recommending the OPPO DV-970 player. It has proved a formidable performer, and with it's good looks and low price tag it's a safe buy for any HDTV owner.

You can order your own OPPO DV-970 DVD player from the OPPO Digital site.

Highs
Attractive silver design with orange lighting; user-friendly interface; good DivX/XviD support; competitively priced; good build quality; admirable up-conversion and video quality.

Lows
No way to bookmark DivX playback position or resume playback.

Final verdict
A formidable performer, and while it may not be the best DivX player on the market due to lack of bookmark/resume features, it is one of the best up-converting DVD players we've tested.
