Named after one of the world’s toughest and most versatile military vehicles, does the m998 ATX Mid-Tower PC case live up to its namesake?

As any PC gamer knows, there are a number of things that one needs to consider when shopping for computer cases. After all, you don’t want just any piece of junk housing what is probably your favorite piece of electronics in the house/apartment/parent’s basement/friend’s living room couch. What you are probably looking for is a case that is functional, but at the same time shows a bit of personality in the looks department. With the M998 ATX Mid-Tower case, Ultra computer products aims to provide for your needs.

It's big, but it's pretty.

Appearance:

Right off the bat let me say this: The M998 is HUGE. At a whopping 9.45” x 18.11" x 20.47” this case takes up some serious real estate. The all black paint job adds to an overall threatening appearance, while the Plexiglas side panel (with black grates covering two ventilation holes) provides a bit of slick style. The fact that the front of the unit is black plastic means that any beige colored drives that you have will not really match very well.

Keep this in mind if you are concerned with the appearance of your rig, and let’s be honest, what self respecting gamer isn’t? The power LED on the front of the case is a bug zapper blue, while the dual drive LEDs glow green. Directly below the LED array is a door that hides front ports for sound, USB, eSATA and firewire. Being able to close this door when the ports are not in use is a nice aesthetic feature.

Ultra has taken the interior appearance into account as well by providing an exclusive “Power Bar distribution system” which helps control cable clutter. If you are not using a power supply with modular cords, however, the Power Bar system is less practical, since even cables that are not being used are still visible hanging from your power supply.
