The laptop (Lenovo T60, 14”) received the most attention, but it was also carried around tons of places and used much more frequently than the game consoles, as I write on the go more often than not. It received much praise from those around me, who were curious how I attained such a venerable design.
Unfortunately, it didn’t fit perfectly on the laptop, and I was forced to have a small amount of the skin lean off the edge. This made the skin look less like a custom design and more like a makeshift attempt at giving the laptop character. Thus was my impression, though most people who saw the skin didn’t notice. Yet because of the side sticking out, it hasn’t been easy using the skin while traveling with the laptop or keeping the skin’s sticky side protected.
There were a few complications with the skins I received. For most people, one will probably be enough, but it takes practice to put the skins on properly. The first was placed on the PSP, where I learned the hard way that they stretch easily, and once stretched will not fit correctly. The sticky side, while made to easily come on and off any number of times, will keep any dirt attached. The instructions didn’t mention this, and after believing that my PSP has been kept very clean, I found that it wasn’t safe to remove after peeling a bit off.
Sadly, this means that my PSP is left with a slightly misplaced, slightly stretched and irremovable skin. It still looks good, but because of this error, it cannot be fixed. More care was taken in putting the DS’s skin on, and no complications were reached with it, and the laptop’s was very easy to put on.
Gelaskin has done an excellent job of creating removable skins for portable gaming consoles and laptops, as we have tested. They attract attention and beautify, if you will, the rather drab electronic equipment we use day in and day out. The added bonus is that they also improve the feel of the consoles, especially for the PSP. But proper care must be taken to fully ensure that they are placed properly and used correctly, otherwise they’ll end up being an expensive cleaning tool. At $20 per skin, Gelaskins is the most affordable way to liven up your portable electronics.
