You've got to love anything that makes it possible to turn up the sound to mind numbing levels.

The PSP is a great way to enjoy music, games and movies. It's a real overachiever in the world of handheld gaming systems. Unfortunately the PSP suffers from TLS syndrome (Too little sound). This powerful little platform has tiny little speakers that make you feel like your hearing must be going bad. But portable gaming gurus can rejoice because if you really want big sound from your PSP you can now look no further than your FM radio thanks to the iTrip.

You may be too young to remember those commercials for the microphones that could project your voice through your radio, but that's kind of what the iTrip does. The iTrip plugs in to the bottom of your PSP through the headphone jack and sends that sound into your FM radio. Just find a frequency on the FM band with nothing on it and you're on your way to audio that you won't strain to hear.

The iTrip isn't really that hard to set up. Just find a relatively clear frequency on your stereo then match it up with one on the iTrip digital display. It sounds simple enough, but you may have a bit of difficulty finding one clear of all voices and broadcasts that works well. The iTrip instructions suggest finding a silent or static frequency that's clear of neighboring frequencies on your FM dial. Some people may find this a lot harder than others. But once you do you're good to go and you'll be able to hear your PSP's sound through your radio speakers.
