Performance

While the Neo is undeniably good looking, unfortunately it has some serious shortcomings when it comes to performance.

In theory the case provides everything a consumer could want in a PSP storage unit. When closed it provides fairly sturdy protection and padding. When open all of the buttons and ports are exposed, including the UMD slot which can be easily accessed by unsnapping a subtly integrated back flap. There is storage for two memory sticks inside the screen cover, and one UMD inside the back flap. There is even a fold out “kickstand” that props up the PSP unit for easy movie viewing.

The major design flaw, and this borders on a deal killer for me, is the way that the PSP is held in place. The Neo holds the game unit snugly by a hard, leather encased border that wraps around to the front of the PSP along the sides and a little bit along the bottom. While this border never actually covers any of the controls or buttons, it does come right up to the edge of the circle button and the control stick and pad. Because of the thickness of the leather border, and its position, I found it very uncomfortable to activate the circle button, and to use the joystick.
