Performance
Considering the A-200’s portable size, it is able to output a remarkable range of sounds. The two 1.5 W tweeters create crisp highs and reasonably strong midrange tones. The downward firing 3W sub also is capable of a decent amount of bass, theoretically helped by the EAVS (Expanded Air Volume System) cavity that expands out from the top of the unit and serves as a sort of resonating chamber for the sub.
Lower end bass frequencies fall off, especially at lower volumes, but this is to be expected of any unit as small as the A-200. The EAVS cavity serves a secondary purpose as well as expanding the unit’s bass capabilities. With the cavity collapsed power is off, and by pressing (hard) on the top of the unit the cavity expands and the power is turned on. It takes a fair amount of force to get the part to move, which is a little annoying, but certainly no reason to avoid the A-200.
Four AAA batteries provide power to the unit for 24 hours, but the included A/C adapter can also be used. Also included is a 3.5 millimeter male/male jack that serves to connect your audio device to the A-200.
