A worthy first foray into the portable audio market for Saitek. Now if only they were a little easier to turn on.
With the rise in popularity of portable audio devices, especially MP3 players and Sony’s PSP, manufacturers are jumping head-first into the portable speaker market. Saitek, a company previously known for control peripherals, is no exception. With their new Saitek Audio line, this company hopes to get a solid foot in the portable audio market. The A-200 Portable 2.1 Speaker System is one of their first offerings, and a capable offering it is.
Appearance
Here’s the thing about the A200; you’ll either really like the style, or you’ll really dislike it. I doubt there will be many “in between” feelings. Personally, I fall into the former category. The glossy black triangular body is very slick looking. With rounded corners and sides there is a decidedly modern feel to the unit. Bright red rings surrounding the top-firing drivers and a bright orange border around the bass cavity enclosure add some nice color detail to an already cool looking exterior. The two small volume control buttons are a metallic and sit comfortably next to the green power LCD on top of the unit. The included cleaning cloth ensures that your A-200 is always finger print free, and the black neoprene carrying case prevents dings and scratches in transportation.
