And now, for perhaps the most significant improvement of all! The G5 is the first corded gaming mouse from Logitech to feature their acclaimed Laser sensor, as was first used in the MX1000. Not only does this improve tracking speed, but it also means you can use the mouse on just about any surface. Where my old MX518 would not work well on white or shiny surfaces, the G5 doesn't even think twice. It just continues tracking as normal. DPI is also increased to 2000 and is adjustable on the fly down to 400 - great for sniping!



The final tweak Logitech made to the G5 is the ability to add custom weights to the underside of the mouse. The way this works is, you insert small weights into a weight cartidge, which then slides into the underside of the mouse. To take it out again you simply press the eject button, and it pops right out. This is perfect for gamers who prefer more weight to their mouse. Personally, I find that the lighter a mouse is the better, and thus I do not use the cartridge at all. Still, the option is there if you need it.
