The G5 is the first in a new line of high-end laser mice from acclaimed hardware manufacturer Logitech. It is also the first line-up of mice from Logitech that have been designed from the ground-up for gamers! What this means is that the features, specifications, and functionality of the G5 are all designed to help you aim, shoot, and move with greater precision in-game than ever before. That's a lot to live up to, so does the G5 deliver what it promises, and does it improve upon the already incredible MX518 mouse reviewed here?



Firstly, lets discuss the aesthetics of the G5. Logitech have retained the shape of the old MX line, which we all know and love. However they have changed a few minor details. The parts where your thumb and fingers rest is now a matte, slightly rough finish, as opposed to the smooth and somewhat slippery finish of the MX line. Kudos to Logitech for this. The old bowling ball finish has been abandoned in favour of a new finish that can only be described as 'rusty metallic', which looks absolutely stunning and is another definite improvement to an already impressive design.
