Logitech delivers an affordable system at the higher echelons of iPod speakerhood.

When it comes to speakers for the Apple IPod, the choices are as numerous as they are varied. In order to stand out in the vast field of higher-end, mid-priced mp3 audio, a portable speaker system has to offer more than the standard feature set.

Appearance

The MM50 is most definitely as classy in appearance as the iconic MP3 player it was designed for. Effectively a 12.75 x 3.75 x 1.25 rectangle of glossy black or white plastic, the unit is a perfect match to the iPod’s minimalist design. The four white speaker cones are just visible behind a solid, color matched screen that extends across the entire front panel and wraps over the top. Four buttons (power, 3-D stereo, volume up, and volume down) are integrated beautifully into the right side of the top panel.

The power button, when activated, emits a very cool blue glow that changes to purple when battery power is being used and red when the charge is running low. The 3-D stereo button likewise glows orange when active. The overall look matches perfectly with your iPod, and the fact that the unit comes in both white and black means that it will be color correct regardless of which iPod you own. Even the remote control is integrated perfectly into the overall design aesthetic.
