While Logitech already had a sweet gaming mouse in the G5, the special edition comes with a slick Battlefield graphic.

Although the Logitech G5 mouse came out over a year ago, Logitech recently kicked the mouse back into relevancy by releasing a Battlefield 2142 edition of the G5, changing up the rusty steel face of the stock G5 with a graphic depicting one of the game’s battle walkers stalking through a burned-out city. MSRP of the G5 Battlefield 2142 edition is $10.00 more than the stock G5; is the new mouse worth the price difference? We take a look to find out.

Features

On the face of things, there’s no difference at all except for that graphic which, truth be told, does look pretty cool. However, beyond the altered mouse face you’ll still get the great G5 features:

  • A 30x30-pixel sensor array that generates 2,000 DPI/6.4 megapixels per second.

  • Built-in sensor adjustment system that allows you to switch between sensor sensitivities in up to five 50 DPI increments in a range between 400 and 2,000 DPI. 5 LEDs on the surface of the mouse indicate the current DPI level.

  • Polytetrafluoroethylene gaming feet for a supposedly smoother ride.

  • Included weight cartridge with sixteen weights to adjust the weight of the mouse for better control.

  • No-sleep laser so the mouse is always ready when you need it.

  • Eight buttons including the sensitivity switches, all programmable.

  • Cloth-wrapped anti-tangle USB cord that has the added bonus of being easy to distinguish when you’re digging around behind your computer.
