Logitech did a particularly good job designing the sensitivity selector – the selector doesn’t loop around, so you won’t accidentally select 400 DPI when you’re trying to select 2000 DPI. The location of the buttons provides a good compromise between easy access and a guard between accidentally pressing the buttons when you’re reaching for something else. Using the default DPI values in Battlefield 2142, I found that 800 DPI was enough to maintain a good balance between control and speed when moving around, while the 2000 DPI setting is particularly useful for mounted weapons, where you need to be able move around the weapon’s movement axis as quickly as possible.
Conclusions
Pound for pound, the G5 is the best mouse I’ve ever used. Because of the problems I had setting up the buttons I can’t give this mouse a perfect rating and to be honest, unless you’re such a big fan of Battlefield 2142 that you want to have the game branded on your mouse, there’s no point in spending the extra $10.00 on the Battlefield 2142 Special Edition of the G5 – there’s literally no other difference between the stock and special editions. That said, the G5 is a fantastic gaming mouse and I highly recommend it.
