Razer Tarantula

Simple word processing keyboard by day, kickass gaming peripheral by night.

Razer has really gone that extra mile to create a gaming keyboard that has more lights and shiny parts than a rapper’s ‘grill’.  Beyond pure aesthetics, the keyboard really has some interesting and innovative ideas incorporated into a very stylish package. Gaming won’t be the same after this bitchin’ little piece of hardware.

Such a sweet looking piece of hardware cannot be overlooked easily.

The idea behind the Tarantula goes back a long way. When I think of PC components that are vital to improving my gaming experience, keyboards aren’t usually the first thing I think of. Some important things to running a PC at full potential are usually things such as video cards and RAM. I equally think peripherals such as mice and headsets are important to gaming. Such items can really improve our optimal response times and hopefully make us better gamers. However, lots of us don’t think of adding such hardware as a keyboard.

The Tarantula on my floor, lit up and looking pretty.

In one of those “I didn’t know I didn’t know I was missing out” situations, the right keyboard can really add a boost to how we play our games. Standard keyboards don’t allow more than 3 simultaneous key presses at a time, and although there are downloadable programs that allow you to program key bindings, both can be kind of a pain.

Along comes Razer, which is most notably known for its production of high end gaming mice. The company has now extended their hardware lineup to include keyboards and audio cards. Their first big step in this direction is the Tarantula.
