Performance

The performance, I am glad to say, is also decidedly high end. Sound quality is about as good as I have heard in a speaker set this small and in this price range. Low end frequencies are solid and full, without being boomy. With speakers this size, one can not expect subwoofer-quality bass, but what the AudioStation puts out is more than adequate for its size. Highs are crisp and clear while great midrange representation fills in the sound field with gusto. The 3D Stereo technology makes a minor, but still noticeable difference, so you will likely have it activated all of the time. As far as sound goes, you are not going to find much better in a unit this small.

As far as features are concerned, Logitech went all out. Touch sensitive controls on the face of the unit allow you to adjust volume as well as bass and treble levels, sleep timer, audio source and am/fm radio tuning . Yes, there is an am/fm radio integrated into the AudioStation. Tuning is a snap, but you may have to consult the manual to figure out how to program your pre-set stations (5 each for AM, FM1 and FM2).

Unfortunately none of these pre-sets have a dedicated button, so you will also have to scroll through them to reach the one you want. If you are using an iPod video, composite and S-Video (which is recessed, and a litte hard to get to) output jacks allow you to connect the AudioStation to a monitor or television. Really, Logitech though of everything...almost. For some reason, while the AudioStation has a clock and sleep timer, it doesn't have an alarm clock. One would think it would be an easy and logical feature to include, but oddly it is missing.

The front display is clear and easy to read.

Conclusion

Overall, the AudioStation is an awesome unit. On top of offering terrific sound output, it is also abnormally feature-rich. It's not perfect, but it is damned good. If you are in the market for this type of hardware, and aren't scared off by its $299.99 price tag, the Logitech AudioStation is the best of this type of unit that I have come across.

Highs
Solid sound, especially for the size; slick appearance; large feature set; touch sensitive controls; full audio adjustments; nice remote.

Lows
Pricey; no alarm clock; large power supply; no dedicated radio tuning buttons; S-Video jack is a little hard to get to.

Final verdict
Great performance and slick looks. If you are willing to dish out the 300 bones, you can't do much better than the Logitech AudioStation.
